The mere thought of the silent disease lurking among us is frightening, but we are told by the prophet Isaiah in 26:3, “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.” And Jesus consoles us with, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” John 14:27
What would Jesus do?
I am asking myself every day “What would Jesus Do?” as we are confronted with further information about the spread of the virus. Would Jesus turn his back on the sick, hungry, unsheltered or would he hold His ground, reach down and lift them up? I think we all know the answer.
We are keeping the doors open to our Day Center, while others have had to close. At the Mission meals are being served and we continue to shelter folks at night. Our staff are vigilant to keep everyone safe and healthy by educating them on how to protect themselves, constantly cleaning, and reconfiguring our space for social distancing. See the pictures below.
Your prayers are coveted as our staff valiantly and selflessly minister the love of Jesus Christ to all who are in our care. Due to extraordinary needs like gloves, masks, sanitizing chemicals, food, and staff over-time costs, I ask you to consider a financial gift to help in this unparalleled effort that we are engaged in today.
Let us not become weary in doing good…Gal 6:9
